Projects in Process

In addition to the ongoing digitization work for Milner Library’s Electronic Course Reserve requests, the Digitization Center Staff are always working on a variety of projects. The Center’s staff is currently working on the following projects.

The Niiyama Collection

This unique collection was inspired by the famed Ogura Hyakunin Isshu. Created by Mitsuya Niiyama, each of the 100 ceramic pieces portrays the text of a single poem in its distinctive form and color. This collection will be managed through CONTENTdm for interested researchers. A special online exhibit is planned to showcase this fine collection and bring new insight into Japanese culture to thousands of visitors each year—instilling an appreciation for both the poems and the gentle beauty of the pottery it inspired.

ILSTUDIA

This is a joint project of Milner Library’s Digitization Center and School of Art at Illinois State University. Center staff is working to digitize more than 10,000 art slides used for instruction. This collection is managed through CONTENTdm, however, access is restricted to the University community. Browse the ILSTUDIA Project.

The International Collection of Child Art

This is a unique resource housed in Milner Library at Illinois State University. The collection was initiated in 1969 and now contains over 8,500 pieces of child art from over fifty countries and cultures. It is used by scholars from numerous disciplines to study various aspects of artwork by children and adolescents. Several exhibits of original artwork from the collection are available for loan. Center staff will begin to digitize this collection in 2007. Browse the International Collection of Child Art.
