Business Source Elite
Indexes  over 950 journals on business, management, economics, finance, banking, accounting, and more. Provides citations, abstracts, and some full text.  Includes references to articles on the economic aspects of family life.

Child Abuse, Child Welfare and Adoption
This database contains over 21,000 citations and abstracts from the professional literature on child abuse. Includes books, journal articles, government reports, conference papers, state annual reports, curricula and unpublished papers. Provides citations and abstracts.

Child Development Abstracts & Bibliography 
A paper index on all aspects of child growth and development.  Was discontinued in 2001.  Library has 1990-2001 on floor 4, HQ750.A1 C47.

CINAHL
A nursing & allied health index which includes references to children including the hospitalized child.  Other family health issues are included. 

Contemporary Women’s Issues
Includes information from journals, newsletters, research reports from non-profit groups, government and international agencies. Updated every two weeks. Includes citations, abstracts, and full text.

Education Abstracts
Covers every age and sector of the educational community.  Provides some full text.

ERIC        
An education database which includes information on human development.

Family Studies Abstracts
Indexes journals and selected books related to family studies including topics such as marriage, divorce and family therapy.  Provides some full text. 

GPO Monthly Catalog         
An index to US Government publications.  Includes information on children & families.  Available from the list of  Milner databases or on the Internet via www.gpoaccess.gov.  If using the internet, click on Catalog of U.S. Government Publications.  Many sources are available in full text.  Milner Library has a large government document collection.

Health and Psychosocial Instruments (HAPI)
Provides over 70,000 records on research instruments related to health and the psychosocial sciences.  Includes information on research questionnaires related to family health issues.

Health Source Consumer Edition
Consumer-orientated database providing sources to family health issues.  Many sources are available in full text.

Health Source Nursing/Academic Edition
Indexes scholarly nursing journals and reference books.  Includes references to articles on various family health issues.  Many sources are available in full text.

Hearth
Available by accessing http://hearth.library.cornell.edu/ and clicking on Search which is found on the left side of your screen.  This database, from Cornell University,  indexes historically important books, journals and essays published between 1850 and 1950. 

Medline
Indexes the professional medical literature plus some nursing and allied health sources. All the references from the Medline database are included in the PubMed database.  If you access PubMed from the list of Milner's databases you will have the Find it option which can be used to determine if Milner Libary has the source, either in full-text or paper format. 

PsycINFO         
Indexes the literature on psychology includes information on human development and all types of family relationships.

PubMed
Medical database which includes references to sources on the hospitalized child, family relations related to diseases and disorders, and child development.  Consists of all references found on Medline and more.  Available via www.PubMed.gov but if you search it using Milner’s list of databases you will have the advantage of the Find It option.  The Find it option can be used to determine if Milner Library has the source, either in full text or paper format.

Indexes popular magazines including Time and Newsweek.

Sage Family Studies Abstracts    
A paper index providing abstracts on selected articles on families.  The most recent volume is located in the reference section on floor two with the call number Z7164.M2 S24.  Earlier volumes, 2000-2005, have the same call number and are locate on floor five.  Online availability extends from 1999-2004. 

Sociological Abstracts
Includes references to social aspects of marriage, children, & the family.

Social Sciences Abstracts
Includes references to social aspects of marriage, children, & the family.

Social Services Abstracts
Provides references to sources in the social services literature.

Current theory holds that if a child does not properly attach itself to a caregiver in the first three years, the implications for later life are profound.  This can show up in the form of overly aggressive behavior, serious learning problems, and delinquency.  This program followed three sets of parents and their problem children, ages 10 months to 3 years.
