Software that supports both the Milner Catalog and I-Share Catalog was upgraded during the week of June 14. Although the new version is now available, the upgrade is not yet complete. Here is the latest information regarding the upgrade (as of August 7). The catalog continues to run slowly with occasional unscheduled outages. Watch this page for updates. We will pass along information as we receive it.
An alternate version of the catalog … known as VuFind … has been largely unaffected by the software upgrade. Access VuFind on the library homepage … “Try Our Beta Version.”
The “repeat search in the I-Share Catalog” link has been partially restored. The link appears when a search has failed to find materials in Milner Library. The link will soon appear at the top of the Results page after a successful search.
The “Text me this call number” feature has not yet been restored.
The “Seeking Full Text/Find It” feature has not yet been restored.
Problems logging into library accounts continue to be reported to us. This may occur when trying to renew materials or request books from other I-Share libraries. Some patrons encountering this problem report successfully accessing their accounts after several attempts. Make sure you are logging in using your university identification number from your Redbird Card rather than your ULID.
The catalog has not yet been configured to save citations for eventual importing into RefWorks. This function will be restored in a later phase of development.
The upgrade is an initiative of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI). CARLI planned the upgrade based on feedback throughout the state. The upgrade is intended to help sight-impaired searchers better navigate the catalog with assistive technology. For assistance navigating the new catalog or for help with problems, contact the Milner Library reference desk at (309) 438-3451.
Thank you for your patience during this transition period.
