Business and Economics Subject Librarian

 Illinois State University’s Milner Library seeks applicants for a non-tenure track, entry-level librarian with liaison responsibilities to the Accounting, and Finance, Insurance, and Law Departments in the College of Business and for the Department of Economics in the College of Arts and Sciences. As liaison, primary duties include specialized reference assistance, library-related instruction, and collection development. Also participates in staffing the Reference Desk (with evening, weekend and holiday rotations), instant messaging, and electronic reference services. Shares responsibility for providing instruction for Communications 110 and English 101 during fall and spring semesters. Designs instructional materials, handouts, and subject specific web pages. Applies relevant social technologies to enhance student access to information.  Works closely with a second Business Librarian. Reports to the Associate Dean for Public Services

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program is required
  • Experience and/or coursework in the fields of Business and Economics
  • Experience and/or coursework in library and information literacy instruction
  • Experience and/or interest in reference work
  • Experience and/or interest in collection development
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Salary and benefits:  $33,750 for 9 months – 24 days vacation and 11 paid holidays per year.
