The Niiyama Collection

This unique collection was inspired by the famed Ogura Hyakunin Isshu. Created by Mitsuya Niiyama, each of the 100 ceramic pieces portrays the text of a single poem in its distinctive form and color.

This collection will be managed through CONTENTdm for interested researchers. A special online exhibit is planned to showcase this fine collection and bring new insight into Japanese culture to thousands of visitors each year—instilling an appreciation for both the poems and the gentle beauty of the pottery it inspired.
