Schedule Instruction and Visits

Milner Library supports Illinois State University curriculum through library instruction and information literacy sessions.  If you are interested in collaborating with a librarian to work with your course, please review the following categories.

Milner Library supports the General Education Program through various instructional efforts including course-integrated, sequenced information literacy instruction for Critical Inquiry and Communication and Critical Inquiry and Composition classes. Instruction is also offered to Inner, Middle and Outer Core classes by subject specialist liaison librarians.

Communication and Critical Inquiry (COM 110) and Composition and Critical Inquiry (ENG 101)

Information Literacy instruction for the two Critical Inquiry Inner Core classes involves up to three information literacy instruction sessions over two semesters.  COM 110 and ENG 101 instructors are assigned librarians before the start of the semester.

All Other General Education Courses

To request instruction for your General Education course, especially in the Middle and Outer Cores, contact the librarian who serves as your subject specialist liaison or Jennifer Sharkey, Coordinator for Library Instruction and Information Literacy, at jsharke@ilstu.edu or 438-3485.

Library faculty are available to design and teach instruction sessions tailored to fit the specific research and curricular needs of your students.

Instruction sessions are available during regularly scheduled class times or by special arrangement and are not restricted to on-campus courses. Please make every effort to arrange instruction sessions at least two weeks in advance to allow time for the librarian to plan the instruction and/or develop any needed instructional materials.

Instructors of Heartland College or Lincoln College courses who wish to visit Milner Library for instruction or tours should contact Jennifer Sharkey, Coordinator for Library Instruction and Information Literacy at jsharke@ilstu.edu or 438-3485.

Due to limited personnel, high school outreach sessions have been suspended.
