Which databases allow me to use Find It?
Visit the Databases with Find It buttons page to find out.
Why don’t I see any Find It buttons in a database that allows Find It?
The most likely cause is that you have JavaScript disabled in your browser. If it is turned off, the buttons will not appear. Re-enable JavaScript and everything should be fine. For assistance, contact the University Computer Help Desk.
Why can’t I get a full-text version with Find It?
There are a variety of possible reasons:
• we do not subscribe to the full-text version, likely because of the cost
• publisher or author withheld the rights to the full-text version
• it is not available electronically, likely because of its age
• it is temporarily unavailable
Why are there multiple options in Find It for full-text for some journals?
Sometimes an article is available in more than one database; we provide links to more than one database. If one is temporarily not working, it helps to have a backup choice. Other databases offer access to both web version (.html) and Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) versions of the article.
Why do several windows open up when I use Find It?
When you click on
, a new browser window opens that displays the menu of options. Selecting an option from the menu opens a third window. Generally, you will not have more than three or four windows open at a time. Remember that you can resize the windows to suit your viewing preferences. Sometimes windows are hidden behind other windows.
Why don't any windows open up when I use Find It?
When you click on
, a new browser window (a pop-up window) is supposed to open that displays the menu of options. If you don't get a new window, check first to make sure that it isn't hidden behind the other windows that you have open. If you still don't see your new window, it may be because you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings. Change this setting to permit pop-ups, or contact the University Computer Help Desk for assistance.
Why doesn't the Find It full-text option take me directly to the article?
Find It will get you as close to the full-text as it can. Some databases allow you to go straight to the full-text. In other databases you will have to search the database with article title to get to the full-text.
I have a citation from a print source that I would like to find with Find It. Is that possible?
Yes. Use our Citation Linker tool.
Why does the "Borrow from another library (ILL)" option only display sometimes?
This link will only appear if we do not have online full text, and when the citation information includes: a book title or standard number (ISBN); or a journal title or standard number (ISSN) and volume or issue number.
