Teaching Materials Center (Artifacts Collection)The Milner Library Educational Artifacts Collection is a large collection of loanable trunks on a wide variety of topics in the social studies and science areas. The trunks contain materials to enhance the classroom experience. The collection also includes mammal and bird taxidermic specimens. Trunks in the social studies area cover many regions of the world, specific countries and topics about the United States. The trunks have a great variety of materials including artifacts, maps, pictures, poster, books and videotapes. The science trunks contain items such as animal bones and skulls, animal and plant fossils, fur and leather specimens and insect specimens as well as books, posters, pictures and videotapes. The Artifacts Collection is available for use through the Teaching Materials Center. Specific titles must be reserved at least 1 week in advance of the pick-up date. To reserve titles, please call (309) 438-3483 and leave a message. A Milner staff member will return your call to obtain the necessary information and to complete the reservation form. Once reserved, the collection will be available for check-out Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday 9 a.m-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-8:00 p.m., and Sunday noon-10 p.m.* *(Note: These hours are subject to the library's hours, according to the semester schedule.
