ILSTUDIA Collection (Illinois State University Digital Images of Art)
COVERAGE:   prehistoric to the present
DESCRIPTION:   A locally produced database of images for use in the study and teaching of art, design, and material culture at Illinois State University.   Includes views of sculpture, architecture, painting, and decorative art objects from European, American, Middle Eastern, Asian, African and Oceanic cultures dating from prehistoric times to the present.  The images come from many sources, including published images, original images purchased or donated, and unique images selected and scanned from the slide library at the School of Art.

Saskia Archive (Available to CARLI member libraries)
The Saskia Archive is a collection of digital art images with a special emphasis on the core images required for teaching the history of Western Art. The collection contains 30,000 digital images of paintings, sculpture and architecture, including images from many important collections: the Prado, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Uffizi, and the Louvre as well as archaeological sites in Greece, Italy, Turkey and Egypt. The images are displayed in both high resolution and thumbnail format. Additionally, the descriptive data about the images includes references to the occurrences of these images in 19 major art history texts, including Gardner's art through the ages, 12th edition; Understanding art, 7th edition; Art and ideas, 10th edition; Discovering art history, 4th edition.

New York Public Library Digital Gallery  provides access to over 450,000 images digitized from primary sources and printed rarities in the collections of The New York Public Library, including illuminated manuscripts, historical maps, vintage posters, rare prints and photographs, illustrated books, printed ephemera, and more.

World Images provides access to the California State University IMAGE Project. It contains over 65,000 images, is global in coverage and includes all areas of visual imagery.

World's Columbian Exhibition Created to provide access to thousands of illustrations and full-text images of the Chicago World's Fair of 1893 for purposes of teaching and research by the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Images From the History of Medicine 60,000 images including portraits, pictures of institutions, caricatures, genre scenes, and graphic art in a variety of media, illustrating the social and historical aspects of medicine.

NASA Images NASA Images is a service of Internet Archive ( www.archive.org ), a non-profit library, to offer public access to NASA's images, videos and audio collections. NASA Images is constantly growing with the addition of current media from NASA as well as newly digitized media from the archives of the NASA Centers.
