What Will An Article Index Do For Me?

The index will give you a list of articles that match your search terms. Along with the title of the article, you may be given the following information:

Citation Citation  Although the index may not contain the full text of the article, the citation will provide the information that you need to find the article.
Abstract Abstract  It may also include an abstract or summary of the article's content. After reading the abstract, you know if the article will be useful for your topic.
Full text Full text  Sometimes an index will link to the complete text of the article. If it doesn't, you still might be able to find the article in other ways: using the Find It button (described below) or using Milner Catalog's journal title search to see if the library owns the issue you need.
Find It If the full text is not available and this button is showing, you can click on this button. It will tell you how to find the full text, if it is available.

Article indexes provide citations to articles that Milner Library may or may not have in print or online. Use the FindIt button to determine whether the article you need is available online, or search the Milner Catalog to determine whether Milner Library owns a print copy of the journal in which the article was published. If the article you need is not available either in print or online--and this will likely happen to you--ask a librarian for assistance.
