Using
Phrases to Refine a Search
|
| 1. racial
profiling |
Google
searched each of the words you entered separately. You probably
got millions of pages. Looking through even a fraction of
these is time consuming and frustrating! |
| 2. "racial
profiling" |
When
you put quotes around racial profiling, it ensured that the words
were searched together as a phrase. You should have gotten
fewer "hits" than the previous search. But that's still
too many to look through! |
3. "racial
profiling"
"arab americans" |
Adding
another search term, such as "arab americans," makes
the search more specific. You should have gotten even fewer hits.
To refine the search further try adding another search term, such
as a specific location or date, or limiting your
search to a particular domain name. |
| 4. Advanced
Search with .org |
By
limiting your search to .org. (organizations) you should
have found a Civil Rights site and the official site of the Muslim
American Society. You could also try .edu sites or you could
add additional terms to refine your results. |
